Sydney

What a cool city – at least what I saw in about 6 hours. We arrived from Darwin around 8:30pm. Got to our swank hotel downtown in Sydney and went for a stroll for a few hours.  Interesting side note:  the hotel in Sydney was cheaper than the Holiday Inn Darwin because people are escaping the “cold” of southern Australia for the warmer climes of the North.

The next morning I got up early and walked for hours before departing for the airport and back to the states.  I walked across the Harbor Bridge. To the Botanical Gardens and Hyde Park. To the Opera House. Through a local street market. Etc.

My impression was the city is vibrant, clean, and friendly. It reminded me a bit of San Francisco with some Dutch architecture (notwithstanding the Opera house Dutch connection) mixed in.

  1. What did I tell you? You already know I had the same impression of Sydney. I think it would be a great place to live for awhile if I was about 25! Lots of young people and great energy.
